A Police man on his first murder case.

A tattoo artist with a deadly secret.

And a twisted serial killer sharpening his blades to kill again….

When Brighton tattoo artist Marni Mullins discovers a flayed body, newly promoted DI Francis Sullivan needs her help. There’s a serial killer at large, slicing tattoos from his victims’ bodies while they’re still alive. Marni knows the tattooing world like the back of her hand, but has her own reasons to distrust the police. So when she identifies the killers next target, will she tell Sullivan or go after the tattoo thief alone?

WOW!! What a book, I can honestly say this was a fantastic read, I was hooked from the first sentence, and I loved the authors writing style, it was perfectly detailed, although some of the details given by the killer made me feel quite queasy, however that didn’t stop the killer chapters from being my favourite.

The story follows Marni, Francis and Rory on their journey to find the tattoo thief with the extra bonus chapters from the voice of the killer and their backstory. The story was pacey and intriguing throughout with some exceptional characters. I was really engrossed into this story and when the realisation of who the killer actually was I literally couldn’t hide my horror.

Although my favourite chapters were those of the killer, my favourite character was most certainly Marni. She was such a strong yet relatable character and I was always hoping she got together with with Francis, and I am so excited to start the next in the series to see where that leads.

What is the effect of hearing the story from the voice of the killer in those short chapters? How did it make you feel?

Although the chapters freaked me out, they were my favourite, I love hearing the voice and the mind of the killer.

Marni is a complex character, damaged by her past. Is she a hero or a villain? Do you like her?

Are you serious!! She is a hero, she is such a strong and independent character, I love her.

How does the author ratchet up the tension throughout the novel? were there particular moments when you were on the edge?

I thought the build up of tension in this book was incredible, starting at a normal pace and then building up to you being on the edge of your sit when they hit stone acre farm.

Discuss the relationship between Marni and DI Francis Sullivan, and how it changes over the course of the story.

Although Marni wasn’t a big fan of Francis in the beginning I was pretty much willing for them to get together from the start and I was so excited with the progress their relationship was making.

Did you suspect who the murderer was? What hints did the author make?

I didn’t guess who the killer was until right before we found out, although I did have a slight suspicion about it being him at his last tattoo session.
