When Grace’s beloved sister Glory dies in a car crash, her life spirals out of control. She discovers Glory was indebted to a local crime lord and laundering money through her cafè. What’s worse, Grace is now forced to take over.

Defying her anxiety, Grace will stop at nothing to save herself and those Glory left behind from the clutches of Glasgow’s underworld. But her plans unravel when more family secrets emerge and Grace is driven to question everything she believed about her sister – even her death.

This is my second book I have read by author Heleen Kist, I was first introduced to her work when I read her second Novel #StayMadSweetheart … this book was my favourite read of 2019 and so knew I had to go back and read her previous work.

I have found in the past when I look back at the authors previous work that the first books are not as great as their latest work, but this is definitely not the case with Heleen Kist. This novel was also a thrillingly enjoy full read and I have now found myself another favourite author.

In servitude follows Grace the main character trying to work out how to get through her new life (her sisters life) after her accidental death… the novel starts by throwing you in at the deep end and your faved with the death of her sister almost instantly. Even though we had no prior knowledge of her sister and her life I found myself emotional over her death, that is just how brilliantly it was written… you can feel the heart-ache from Grace oozing from the words.

Grace was a very likeable character, she was a bit on the goody two shoes side but I loved how insistent she was about things that she could feel in her gut … her gut feeling was right all along even when it was proven to just be her grief … the insistence of Grace maintained a steady and interesting pace throughout the book ….

… until you were nearing the end and then BAM 💥

The pace quickened with a huge twist thrown in and there was no way I was putting the book down until I had found out what the hell was going on.

That’s when we found out the true colours of goody two shoes Grace, the ending started off so sad for her, I was actually pretty gutted with what I was reading and then Grace turned into some next crazy lunatic and I couldn’t believe me eyes.

I bought this book as a kindle copy and will most certainly be hitting the shops to buy a physical copy to continue my Heleen Kist collection on my shelves. This book was a hell of a start to an amazing career she is set to have.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved this book, a brilliant twist thrown in that I didn’t see coming is always an amazing read … I would recommend this book to all thriller lovers.
