When Micheal Rowland saves his younger brother Joshua from the clutches of his step-father, he runs for his life with his brother in his arms. From his hiding place he see’s the man who has made their lives a misery taken away in the trunk of a strangers car, never to be seen again.

Doctor Dani Novak has been keeping soccer coach Diesel Kennedy at arms length to protect him from her dark secrets, when they are brought together by the two young brothers who desperately need their help, it seems they might finally be able to leave their damaged past behind them.

But as the only witness to the man who kidnapped and murdered his step-father, Michael is in danger. As Diesel and Dani do all that they can to protect him, their own investigation into the murder uncovers a much darker web of secrets than they could of imagined. As more bodies disappear it’s clear this killer wants vengeance. And will wipe out anything that gets in his way.

This is book #5 in the Cincinnati series but can also be read as a stand-alone. Which is how I read it and it was incredibly easy to follow. The story follows two characters Dani and Diesel, who are drawn to each other but Dani has been holding back and pushing Diesel away, but after everything that is about to happen, that is all about to change.

I found Micheal to be extremely likeable from the offset, I really felt for him when I found out he was deaf while trying to get away from his step-dad, and carrying his sedated brother and instantly found myself hooked by the story.

There really was not many characters in the book that I liked aside from Michael, Joshua, Dani and Diesel. These main characters were extremely likeable and can we just take a moment to point out the connection between Dani and Diesel was INTENSE!!!

The other characters in the story were horrible … incredibly written but horrible human beings .. the worst being the kids mum, sure Brewer was despicable but as the kids mother you are supposed to protect your children, not ignore cries for help and believe your brute of a new husband over your children.

This book was jam packed with a huge budding romance and murder galore, soooo if you like tour thrillers but love a good love story this book is definitely for you.
